Are you interested in learning how to judge? Are you interested in becoming a more savvy competitor? If you answered “Yes” to either of these questions, Rose City Swing has a great opportunity for you! And you do not need to be an advanced, all-star, or champion dancer to participate – this exceptional Judges Training Program is open to all skill levels.
We are thrilled to introduce your instructor and our Chief Judge, Kelly Casanova. Kelly is a two-time US Open Champion (Classic and Jack & Jill), an inductee in both the World Swing Dance Council and California Halls of Fame. She has over 45 years of teaching and competing experience, and 30+ years as a judge/Chief Judge. Kelly has achieved the highest level of certification from the WSDC as a Master Chief Judge.
In this Judges Training Program, Kelly covers logistical strategies, philosophical considerations, professional ethics, and explanations on other aspects of judging the various divisions of swing competitions. The program includes 10 hours of lecture and discussion as well as the opportunity to have real life judging experience on the floor during actual competitions.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW:
- Apprentice judges in this program must have a full weekend pass to Rose City Swing 2025.
- Apprentice judges in this program may compete in all competitions for which they qualify under Rose City’s rules.
- The program cost of $250 includes all classroom and judging time and materials.
- A partial scholarship is offered to one student for assistance with program administration.
