Rose City Swing Non-WSDC Divisions

Rose City Swing is proud to have a variety of competitions, both WSDC and competitions that are unique to Rose City Swing! Please note, a full weekend pass is mandatory to compete in ANY of the competitions.

ALL of our competitions are GENDER NEUTRAL: You can lead! You can follow! We encourage dancers to compete in whatever role makes them happiest!

NOVICE OPEN STRICTLY SWING
Since the inception of Rose City Swing, this division has been a huge hit! The objective of this division is to partner newer dancers with more experienced dancers. For this reason, one of the partners must be a true newcomer or novice dancer in accordance with WSDC definitions. Dancers who qualify for either Novice or Intermediate based on their points and choose to dance in the Intermediate J&J may not compete as a Novice in the Novice Open. Those who have Intermediate points or above may not compete in the opposite role as the “Novice” in the partnership. This competition is gender-neutral and role switching within the dance is allowed.

ALL-STAR/CHAMPIONS STRICTLY SWING
This competition requires that each partner currently qualifies for the rank of All-Star or Champion in the WSDC Points Registry. This competition is gender neutral, and role switching and lifts below the shoulder are allowed.

INTERGENERATIONAL STRICTLY SWING
In this dynamic Strictly division, the dancers in the partnership must be at least twenty years apart in age. The division is gender-neutral and role switching within the dance is allowed.

DOPPELGANGER STRICTLY SWING
This is a new contest that started as a joke, but after so many people expressed positive responses, we’re adding it! The concept is simple: Dance with your twin! They can be your westie twin or your actual twin! If you don’t have a twin, then find someone random and dress alike! For this division, you can dance with someone of the same level. Matching outfits are highly encouraged. This division is gender-neutral and role switching within the dance is allowed.

ALL AMERICAN JACK AND JILL
This division is open to competitors of all levels and you may enter in the role of your choice. Once randomly paired by the computer, the dancers compete as a couple through all rounds of competition. This competition is gender-neutral, but role switching within the competition is NOT allowed.

SWITCH-IT-UP JACK AND JILL
Enter the Jack and Jill as a dancer (not a leader or follower). In the preliminary round(s), dancers are evaluated individually based on their skills as a leader and a follower, as well as their ability to switch between roles. Dancers will move up as individuals (not as a couple). Dancers will be paired up in finals and judged as a couple in the final round of the competition.

LEVELED AND AGE-BASED JACK AND JILLS
We have all the following WSDC Jack and Jills: Novice, Intermediate, Junior, Advanced All-Star. We also have the Sophisticated Jack and Jill division. Our Jack and Jills are completely gender-neutral, which means you can lead or follow!
